Life story
Július Satinský was born on 20 August 1941 in Bratislava, a city he loved and about which he also wrote. He studied dramaturgy and, together with Milan Lasica, formed the most celebrated comic duo in the history of Slovak entertainment.
Their joint shows, sketches and songs became classics. Satinský was the warmer, more mischievous half of the pair — with irresistible charm, childlike playfulness and a love of words and of people.
He was an actor, writer and entertainer. He performed on stage and in films, wrote books about old Bratislava and letters to children full of humour and tenderness. His presence lit up every room he entered.
He died on 29 December 2002 in Bratislava after a serious illness. He is buried in Ondrejský Cemetery in his native city. He is remembered as a man who gave joy and proved that kindness and humour go hand in hand.
