Audrey Kathleen Hepburn was born on 4 May 1929. She would become a British actress and humanitarian whose elegance and warmth made her one of the most cherished figures of her age.
Recognised as a film and fashion icon, Hepburn was ranked by the American Film Institute as the third-greatest female screen legend from the era of Classical Hollywood cinema. Her presence on screen and her sense of style left a lasting impression on audiences and admirers alike.
She was inducted into the International Best Dressed Hall of Fame and stands as one of only a few entertainers to have won competitive Academy, Emmy, Grammy, and Tony Awards. In her later years she devoted herself to humanitarian work, giving her time and voice to those in need.
Audrey Hepburn died on 20 January 1993 in Tolochenaz. She rests at the Cemetery of Tolochenaz, remembered for the grace of her artistry and the generosity of a life given to the service of others.
